So after my initial post last week I got a couple of DMs asking me where the game I mentioned can be found. The game is Full Marital Amnesty Truth or Dare. Maybe something like this exists somewhere online - I'm sure it must - but the exercise I discussed is something I invented as a mechanism to discuss these things with my wife.

It works like this: when the game starts my wife and I agree the game has started and we enter into the zone of amnesty. We take turns asking questions. The questions should be specific, so that the answers can be equally specific. When you are asked a question you can choose to not answer, but if you do answer you must tell the complete truth. Any information you gain from your partner inside the game cannot be used in any way outside of the game - not in discussions, not in a disagreement/argument, etc. If there is a certain question you might ask that you believe you cannot restrain your reaction to the truthful answer to stay inside of the game, then you must not ask that question during the game. All ansers - no matter what - are given under full amnesty.

For example, if you are wondering if your partner has cheated on you, you can ask in the game, but you cannot react outside of the game or take any advantage of the information outside of the game if the answer is yes. If you cannot abide by that condition than don't ask that specific question in game. Buty also if you are mentally able to receive the answer and not react, you can provide your partner the opportunity to tell the truth within the protection of marital amnesty.

This has been a helpful exercise for us to share fantasies and discuss things like this. If a rule of the game is ever violated, then the game is dissolved and not played again. So far it has worked pretty god, but we do not play it often - don't want to overuse it.
