We’ve always maintained that this is a very occasional activity for us and for the most part it still is. He lives in another city and travels to ours for work a few times a year and that’s when they meet, usually over the course of a weekend in his hotel. However over the next few months it is going to be quite a bit more frequent. She just spent a weekend with him and got home yesterday. She is going away with him again for 5 nights in the middle of August, he’s then back where we live in mid-September and again at the end of September. He’ll be back in mid-October and again in late-October but likely for 3 weeks until late November and they have agreed to meet several times over that period. So basically we have the potential for her to spend an unprecedented amount of time with him over the next few months. By the way, not looking for advice or concerned here. I’m totally supportive and she and I have spent hours talking about this. The only conclusion we’ve come to is that we do want to expand slightly and have her meet a new guy to get some variety and become less dependent on this relationship in case it ever stops for some reason. Point of the story is that these dynamics can evolve however which we need them to in order to suit our needs and the ultimate skills required are trust, honest, communication, and flexibility.
