UPDATE: my mom just texted me telling me she decided not to get the horses. Thank you so much everyone for your advice and replies
Hi horse reddit
Sorry if this is against the rules I am not a horse person but I am really stressed about this and don't know what to do
My mom does things really impulsively. She wants to get 2 horses theyre yearlings she sent me the listings for them. First off, they are $18,000. Each
Just based off my knowledge of animal breeders someone who would sell a large, expensive animal, that will live a long time, to someone who doesn't know what they're doing, I have some concerns there that this is possibly not a good breeder or my mom is being scammed
Second off, my mom has never had a horse, doesn't know how to ride a horse, has never lived on a farm has no experience with farm animals
This seems like such a bad idea and I was wondering if anyone had any advice for this situation? She's an adult and I cant do anything I have no power here but I want to try and make her realize like what a huge deal this is and not to do something like this lightly. I have friends who have horses and although I dont really know much about horses from what I've seen they are a ton of responsibility and like she barely takes care of the 3 dogs she has.
Again apologies if this kind of post isn't allowed but I'm just really worried. Like obviously for the wellbeing of the animals but also this is such a huge financial cost like what will go into caring for and training the animals, how much attention they need, ect
