...that you want to leave with the current owner until the foal is weaned?
(English is not my first language)
I'm interested in a lovely 5 year old mare. She's currently about 7 months pregnant. I have no interest in the foal and really don't want the hassle of caring for it*, so I don't love the idea of having the mare deliver with me and then selling the foal after weaning. I'd much prefer to buy her and have her stay at the breeder until after the foal is properly weaned (6 ish months at least imo) and then have her travel to me.
Has anyone ever done something like that before? I would love to hear from people about their experiences.
*I'm of the opinion that the foal should receive proper (medical) care and attention even if I'm not interested in it. OBVIOUSLY if the foal would be born with me then I would love the little cutie. But it's the mare I fell for, not the baby. So I'd rather not take on the extra work if I can avoid it.
