Needing help with a senior horse sale (from a buyers view)
Post Body

Hey all, me again! Posted here a few times already, but I'm currently selling my young green horse in favor of this sweet 20 yr old bubby. He is an angel and I love him to death, I know I'll regret nothing by buying him.

He is owned currently by someone who runs a lesson barn and someone who I board with (I will be moving as soon as I buy my bubby and sell my youngin), and he is not used in their lessons. She got him as a rescue to put weight on and he never really got healthy and had no training to even be a lesson horse, so he sat for a bit. The current pics are attached, taken only a few days ago. I'm selling my young horse for 5k, but willing to take 3.5k, and the lesson lady is fully aware of this. She is also aware I am leaving but I have continued to help out and have not caused any animosity between us about this. Currently, my senior bubby has a spot at a new barn ready and waiting for him.

However, she is asking 2.5k for him. I am about to head off to college (Ocala, so big horse area, I am a working student, don't give me advice on taking a pony to college please!) so I'm trying to save some money, and senior bubby needs to have his teeth done again, feet trimmed, possible vet check, and a whole new pricey senior feed diet established ON TOP OF me having to buy mostly new tack that will fit him comfortably (he has bits and bobs tack now, nothing I can take with me that's not already mine, and he is a pony, previous horse is a giant TB), and I also had plans of getting a small 2 horse trailer to refurbish.

Previously she had talked about listing him for 1.5k - 2k, which I understood was to make sure he went to a good home, but as of now, I have been the only one riding him, training him, and rehabbing him for the past half year- previously he had pain responses, bolted, refused to slow down etc, and he's come a LONG way. Everyone I've talked to told me that I trained him.

I feel like 2.5k is a lot for him, and it feels like she's taking advantage of me and my love for him. He hasn't had his feet done in ages and needs a lot of work that she's not leaving me room for. It all depends on how much I get for my young horse, but the idea still stands. Do y'all think I'm being greedy for this? I'll still pay it either way as I love him and he needs to come home, but I need a second opinion.

Thank you in advance <3
