Horse for a 300+ lb person?

Post Body

This is purely hypothetical. I'm a big dude, and I work with horses. Boarders have asked if I ride, and my response is always that I'm too big, and it would be animal abuse. They usually chuckle and say, "I bet there is a horse here you could ride". I don't feel this is true. (They have a couple Clydesdale, but still...) But just out of curiosity, is there a particular breed that does better with plus sized people?

Edit: Thanks for all the replies. Sorry, but I'm not able to get back to everyone. I appreciate the encouragement and support, and it's great to have a community to reach out to for information.

My recommendation if you've never ridden before is finding a trainer to work with you (that way you're carrying yourself properly), but a healthy and dwcent aged Clydesdale absolutely should absolutely be able to carry you! A well balanced heavier rider is better for a horse than an unbalanced lighter rider!
