from my last post if you'd like to see his body condition: https://www.reddit.com/r/Horses/comments/186gwj6/am_i_overthinking_his_body_weight_senior_horse/
I need help figuring out what to feed him, I only half trust feed websites and whatnot and don't want to do wrong by him. Currently gets some soybean meal (like maybe 1/4 lb?), coolstance (1 lb), 1 scoop turmeric, 1 scoop AniMed remission (sometimes if owner remembers), and T-Relief Arnica (not for horses, owner just gives it to the older horses) and about 1 scoop alfalfa pellets all soaked to a mush and 24/7 turnout w coastal hay.
I'm planning to move him into my care soon as he's still underweight after a year of being here and isn't really cared about as owner runs a lesson program and he's not meant for that. About 14.2-.3 and aged at 20. Some sort of appy/arab/foxtrotter mix.
My plan is to switch him to Triple Crown Senior Gold (5lb split between morning/night feed), Essential K Rebuilder (1lb), Farnam Next Level joint support, 1 flake t/a at night, and 1lb soaked alfalfa cubes in warm water on colder nights/after longer rides, 24/7 turnout as well, will keep him in med. weight blanket until weight improves and will get 24/7 tiftin hay.
I just want to know if I seem to be missing anything, what I can do to start introducing him to these feeds, and if this seems to be a good plan. Thank you!
