Hi, my farrier recommended we get hoof boots for when we start trail riding. What would y'all recommend as far as brands go? Are there knew better than others? What are the pros and cons? Thanks everyone!
The boots you get depend on the shape of your horse's hooves. Some boots are better for a more upright hoof, some boots won't come in your horse's size at all, some might be the wrong shape, some might be too thin on the bottom for your horse, etc.
My mare needs a lot of padding (navicular and thin soles) so she goes in the Equine Fusion Active Joggers with a Cavallo 5mm gel pad.
I don't know of any non-navicular specific barefoot groups but the Barefoot Rehab for Navicular group on facebook is very very helpful for booting advice and troubleshooting, and will likely be able to help point you to someone who can do a fitting for you.
