Weapons Modification and Ammo Types in Forbidden West

Hey folks, two main questions about weapons in Forbidden West:
Can you modify your main staff? I know with HZD you could add coils to your Nora Staff but I don't see an option on the crafting bench this time around.
Any way to get a weapon with Fire Ammo? I still haven't found one yet or been given one so not sure if it comes after a specific quest or I have to seek one out.
