Whatever the case, you need to figure out the best way to end a situationship without turning it into a whole ordeal. Here’s how I’d do it:

• Over text. If you’re not particularly close with this FWB, you don’t necessarily have to go out of your way to end a hookup situation. A simple, polite text where you say “What we had was nice, but it’s time for me to move on” is perfectly fine. You could follow it up with something like “You were great, but this isn’t for me right now” for bonus cookie points.
• In person. If you have a fairly good relationship with your hookup partner, it’s perfectly fine to end a casual relationship in person. Hell, you can even sneak in one last hookup if you feel like it, and then part ways. This can be risky though, especially if you want to maintain a platonic relationship afterwards.
• Ghosting. I reserve this one solely for chicks who’d go psycho if I tried to end a fling. I don’t want to deal with begging or reasoning, so I’ll just ignore her texts until she gets the idea, or block her.

It’s never easy to end a fling, but it’s something that has to be done. There’s no guarantee that it’ll end well, though. You can only predict the outcome based on who you’re seeing, so try to pick your method carefully. The last thing you want is to give your crazy sex partner the opportunity to stick a fork in you!
