[Question] Can my VTC actuator rattle be causing gold-like shavings to appear in my oil?

Post Body

Did an oil change today and found some gold flakes in my oil. My VTC actuator on my 2009 accord (2.4L K24z3) has been rattling for 2 years or so now. I didn’t address it because I didn’t have the money at the time but now I do. My question is, is my VTC actuator causing the flakes in my oil? Did my timing chain potentially skip a tooth and that could be the reason I’m finding flakes in my oil?
