Here is my response - any feedback is appreciated!
I am studying business because I love my girlfriend. It's an admittedly weird reason to choose a major, but that's how it panned out and I couldn't be happier.
We both go to school in the same town but at different colleges - she's at Whitman, a prestigious liberal arts university, and I'm at Walla Walla Community College (WWCC), a somewhat-less prestigious (but equally amazing) college. Currently pursuing my associates degree, I always thought that I would transfer out to a 4-year college to complete my bachelors. I am a self-taught programmer of 3 years now, so in order to find a degree program that really challenged me, it would mean moving out of state.
Despite our love for each other, neither of us have any desire to do 2 years of long distance. This means I'm faced with a dilemma: do I pursue a high-class education or stay with the woman I intend on marrying? The choice to me was obvious, I'd break up with {my girlfriends name} when hell freezes over. Luckily, in addition to just being a 2-year college, WWCC offers a bachelors in business. This meant I could have the best of both worlds.
My family tree is full of businessmen too. My great-grandpa owned the largest toy store in Algeria, my grandpa owned the second-largest big-and-tall store in France, and my dad had his own web-development company in San Jose. It seems like the torch is finally being passed to me.
So, if a couple years ago you would have told me, a math-loving computer guy, that I'd be majoring in business, I would have folded from laughter. Now though, it makes perfect sense to me!
