Post Body

A cylindrical rod of 75 cm length and 10 cm diameter is required to be turned in a single

pass turning operation using rests. The right-hand part of the rod, 5 cm length, is required to be

gripped by a three-jaw in the lathe and at the left hand of the rod a centre is used for supporting and

the remaining 70 cm length requires turning operation. Which rest (steady rest or follower rest)

you will opt, and how you will use that rest for this turning operation. Support your answer

with a suitable figure.
