Post Body

My friends have been messing with our head to understand this test. my question is in the given formula

sulphated ash, % by mass = (m1/m2) x100

what is the sulphates ash in the experiment? if

initial mass of ammonium chloride and crucible: 52.2519g final mass of ammonium chloride and crucible: 56.5506g crucible mass: 52.2519g

is the calculation:

((56.5506 - 52.2517) / (57.2515 - 52.2519)) x 100 = 85.98%

is the calculation correct?, ignoring experimental error? is the value of the sulphated ash above is the same as the % of impurities in the sample
