Hi all,
I just have a quick question for any physicists out there. I'm looking at the early universe, when KbT = 100GeV and I need to say which quarks are relativistic. I have the masses of the quarks in the form of energy, and I know that to be relativistic the kinetic energy of a particle needs to be comparable or greater than that of the rest mass.
I'm stuck with the Top Quark which has a rest mass of 173GeV, and I'm not sure if 100GeV (the kinetic energy) is comparable, it is less but is still the same order of magnitude. So my question is, at this temperature is the top quark relativistic? And what does the comparable mean in this context?
Many thanks!
