Does Heat cause Alkane Bromination or Chlorination to react differently than Light?
I recently missed several points on my OChem exam because I was told that if you brominate an alkane with heat (fire) it will produce major products with the primary carbon brominated (due to more energy) but, if you use light it will Brominate the most occupied carbon or the tertiary carbon. Is this not true?
