Were/are anyone else's parents strict anti-feminists? Specifically any homeschoolers whose parents were strict conservatives / fundamentalist / evangelical Christian? Growing up, absolutely anything feminist was labeled as "women's lib" or "femi-nazi" in my family, terms they still use today. Oddly enough, it's my mother who has the most problem with feminism. I know the '90s were when homeschooling was in its infancy (I was born in 84, started homeschooling in 1990, & went thru 12th grade), and there were plenty of power-hungry men who wanted to keep women "in their place" (the whole barefoot, pregnant, and in the kitchen thing). But I'm very curious if anyone else had a similar experience, particularly with their mother, with the family being very anti-women's rights. Book recommendations appreciated!
Oh yeah definitely! All those terms were frequent in my household. I was born 92 and homeschooled all of K-12. Both my mom and my dad were similar levels of 'women should be in the home' type mentality (tho they would object to it being phrased ike that). My mom once got arrested protesting an abortion clinic, and my dad would walk out of a church if a woman took the pulpit.
