SS Brew Tech Brew Bucket Valve disassembly

I received a brand new Brew bucket yesterday, and I am trying to get it ready for use. I hear a lot about making sure to clean the ball valve because of oil build-up from the manufacturer.
I tried for over an hour last night to disassemble the ball valve. I see from SS brewtech website it does come apart, but I'm at a loss as to how I unscrew the barb to open it up.
Does anybody have any suggestions for taking apart this valve?
