Technical Question for Lagering Equipment

So, my compatriots and I have never made a proper lager for lack of proper temperature control. Recently, however, I've come in to possession of an old refrigerator that I could use for the purpose.
My question is, does anyone know a good, low cost method for properly controlling the temperature of the fridge? I'm a handy guy, and am fully competent if the solution requires a bit of electrical work. Any help is appreciated.
