Need ideas for a home file server
Post Body

I have 2 large capacity drives, a 5 TB drive with video files, and a 6TB with other types of video files. I'd like to get these drives out of my computer since I'm switching to a Core P5 case and I have those 2 hard drives, a staging drive for things I've downloaded, and a backup drive as well as my boot SSD. The case only supports 4 drives and I don't feel like screwing around with custom mounting another drive some place.

I've also had bad luck with an external HDD dock so those are out. That leaves me a network file server. I could get Windows server 2012, or I could get Amahi or FreeNAS or NAS4Free. I don't want to have to format the drives and find some place to store the media...so I'd like a solution where I can add the drives and have the OS share it immediately.

What do you suggest? I got a i3 2120 free from work and can get a sandy bridge motherboard and case for under 100.
