Hi, gonna caveat this post as i do all my tech posts, I'm a novice and have no idea what I'm doing, so be gentle and explain like I'm 5 please!
OK, so bought my house which is wired for ethernet, i think cat5. They run around the house to 4 WAPs so there is consistent wifi (and i can hard wire the TV to the Internet).
It broke down a year back and stopped working so i had a guy come in to look at it for me. He fixed it (don't know how) and at the same time managed to rename all the WAPs to match my SSID (i think that's what it is called.. Basically my Internet/router name) and password. So now all my devices work with just the one connection, whereas before I had to switch between them as i moved around the house.
So, now I'm building a new bedroom which i have asked is wired with Cat6 cable. I'll connect another WAP to this.
Does anyone know what i need to do to get the same thing, i.e, same SSID so it's seemless?
Also recommendation on a WAP would be helpful. I'm told by the guy who fixed the issue for me originally that the ones i have aren't great, but i inherited them as part of the buy.
Thanks
