Help - What to buy to run ethernet?

So I'll start off by saying I'm a complete novice so my question will undoubtedly sound basic!
So I'm renovating and the builders agreed to run ethernet cabling for me to the new room being built. I just need to provide them with everything.
Can someone please tell me what kinda ports and cable I should buy?
