I am getting fiber internet (yeah!) but in 6 months will also get over 100 new neighbors within wifi range (big apartment building going up 30m from my house) (boo... I mean, yeah! but also Boo!).
So, what do I pick that will be able to support clear, constant network communications both now, and in 6 months when the # of visible networks will quintuple. Assumption: I will start with one router and expand to mesh as the local environment gets crowded. I can use ethernet for backbone.
Devices - 6 simultaneous active connections at all times, 10 (ish) max. Average 3 devices streaming video (bi directional), max 5. Only 1 gaming (PS5).
Usage priority - 1) business zoom 2) cell phone general/streaming 3) mac laptop general 4) gaming (not hard core) 5) 2 Security cameras, 720p is acceptable 6) low-utilization personal servers / NAS (wired to router) 6) smart devices (mostly zigbee (yeah!), but a couple use wifi 2.4 :/)
User Skill level - technically proficient including experience with Ubiquiti backhaul radios and Meraki and Ubiquiti Unifi Wifi setups, managed switches, advanced (small) business routing, etc.
House Size 2 stories, 3,000 sq feet, 1905 construction HOWEVER with current conditions (< 20 visible networks) a single 4 year old mid-range TP link router can cover the entire house, at least minimally, so the wall construction is not as bad as some early 1900s houses for wifi penetration.
Budget $$ (target < $200/device can go as high as $300).
