Android-based vpn server?

For various reasons I need a cheap way to redirect my data through my network at work when I'm not there. I'm open to other very inexpensive methods (I do have access to the network rack) but the most convenient way would be to host a VPN server on an older Android device I'm no longer using.
Does anybody know of and recommend one? Or have another cheap solution they would recommend?
