Hey all
After waiting for 3 years to ditch xfinity, I finally got ATT gig fiber. Im about to go back to xfinity and I am desperate to not have that happen so could use some advice
Following guides here and elsewhere on the internet, I put my BGW320 into IP passthrough and have a cat6 ethernet cable from the BGW lan port to my WAN port on my ASUS router.I am able to connect to the internet and my ASUS shows its IP address as the public IP address.
The problem is that it is taking forever to first load a page. Often times there will be a 3-5 second delay before instantly loading the page. Checked this with multiple devices and get the same performance. Actual speed on speed tests is great after the several second delay to load the page. Video calls are also an issue where people on the other end of the call are getting freezes lasting for a few seconds at a time every couple minutes.
This feels very much like a routing issue to me. ASUS is in router mode. BGW320 is in ip passthrough, dhcp fixed. I dont have cascading router turned on. The ASUS is using 192.168.50.x for its ip subnet and the BGW is using 192.168.1.x so there is not any overlap there. Please let me know what settings screenshots I should upload to give more info.
Would buying static ip addresses from ATT give me a true bridge mode for my router?
