So I bought 40 smart bulbs to make my entire house be able to be controlled by Alexa. After about 15 bulbs were added, the app (Feit Electric) would not let me add anymore without erroring out on me. Home router is the standard Xfinity one they give to you.
I did some research and it seems that too much noise on a WiFi network can cause problems. I tried restarting my home WiFi, then my iPhone couldn’t connect to home router anymore due to some kind of error.
I went around and turned off all my light switches that held the 15 added smart bulbs and I was able to join my phone back to WiFi and open the Feit app, then I was able to add new bulbs once again.
FYI they are detected by the app via Bluetooth then phone pushes WiFi name and credentials to them that way, then the app bridges the devices to Alexa via Alexa skill.
I have an Echo 4th gen, Echo Show 8, and just found that they have a built-in smart hub (Zigbee).
I guess my question would be, should I get a dedicated stand-alone smart hub? Use the Echo’s built-in Zigbee hubs and take back the crappy Feit bulbs to Lowe’s to swap out for Zigbee compatible ones?
Not sure the best route here, but I have a 2000 Sq Ft house, approximately 40 light bulbs total, and I want to have them all completely voice-controlled.
Thanks to all who answer!
