Mesh to External Router or ISP Modem?

Post Body

Hi! Just for some background, I recently just moved in to a new house and had my optic fiber network installed. With that, came the optic fiber modem prescribed by my ISP (PLDT in the Philippines). However, I also have an external gaming router connected to that modem that delivers much faster speeds than that of the modem.

It's a relatively larger house so I had to buy mesh units as well (TP-Link Deco M5). I want to know if it would be better to connect the mesh to the optic fiber modem with lower speeds, or the external gaming router with higher speeds. Would it even make a difference? I'm not entirely sure how WiFi meshes work. I'm currently away from home so I can't test it myself, but maybe I can get some insight so I can just go for it once I'm back.

Thank you so much in advance!
