Designing a network for new residential construction.
Post Body

So I am buying a new house. Construction hasn’t started yet so we are allowed to add personalization to the plan including network drops.

Internet provider for the area is Comcast. I have checked with Ziply and Centurylink but neither currently services the area. From the outside of the house I am going to ask them to run both Ethernet and coaxial cable to a “network closet” Incase another provider eventually becomes available. I will be installing a network rack instead of an SMC as more versatile.

We do are planing on have TV service but I thought for future sell ability running coaxial to the living room, Loft, and master bed room would be a good idea. I am not 100% sold on having coaxial other than to the network closet from outside.

I plan on having Ethernet run to each location as well in addition to all the other bedrooms and kitchen with location in the ceiling between the living room and kitchen for a UniFi AP and another AP upstairs in the loft which is next to the master bed. I also plan on having runs to the front and back yard for POE cameras.

Does anyone have any recommendations or comments on the above?
