I've a few questions about the 802.11ax standard's performance with backwards-compatible devices

I assume that features that need cooperation with client-side hardware, like 1024-QAM, BSS-Coloring, the higher channel bandwidths, etc wouldn't benefit devices that don't support the new standard.

However, would things like target wake time, the improved MU-MIMO, BSS-Coloring, etc. be utilized while communicating with devices on 802.11ac? Additionally, couldn't the WPA3 standard be added to older devices over software updates?
