I own a 3 unit apartment building where I live in one unit and share my internet connection with my 2 tenants. I also let a friend stay in my spare bedroom so I have 4 of us on my internet. My ISP has a 250 or 350 gig bandwidth limit per month. I am currently on the 350 gigs per month plan. I want to limit each of 4 Ethernet ports to 2.90 gigs usage per day and automatically cut them off when that limit has been reached. would be nice to be able to slow down their internet speed so they run out of bandwidth usage more slowly. I want to know what is the best smart switch (or other device) to limit bandwidth per Ethernet port. I only need 4 to 8 ports. It would also be nice if I can see the usage per port so I can make adjustments as needed. I don't want to set static IP's because I don't really know how to do all that. I think I need a Smart Switch and the NETGEAR ProSAFE GS108T 8-Port Gigabit Smart Switch might be what I want but I just don't know whats the best approach. I have suddenlink internet cable connected to a Motorola SB6141 cable modem then a Linksys WRT54GL router. I want to put the smart switch after the router. I realize that if I turn on the routers wireless, it wont be controlled like the wired ethernet ports will be on the switch. Thanx for your advise.
