I am hoping to get some opinions on my idea for a home network I am going to do at my recently inherited home.
After changing out all the old RJ-11 style wall terminations for RJ-45, I am wanting to put a small network rack in my home office to facilitate the needs of my small engineering business. I have been looking at the Ubiquiti line of equipment, maybe just getting a Dream Machine Pro to start, a PoE switch, some wireless APs, and power supply. Then later down the line once I remodel some other rooms I would like to get an NVR and home security system put up, along with a NAS for file storage.
To be honest I have never actually designed one of these for my own home before so I am not sure what the best setup would be. I understand the basic needs of a communications network but having never built one I am not sure if someone has a better recommendation for me or if the Ubiquiti lineup is a good lineup to look at. Thanks.
