Good afternoon all,
I have a home network (also used for office use) which I've found to exhibit slow wireless speeds.
It seems like this may be related to the number of devices and I'm hoping to get some advice regarding that..
The Context:
The ISP is Xfinity with a 1.2 gig plan, running to a xFi XB7 modem, in bridge mode, to an ASUS Nighthawk RT-AX86U, which then distributes to all the connected devices via switches or Wi-Fi (both 2.4 and 5Ghz available).
I've found that if I restart the router, and especially if there are few devices on it, it does seem to run faster; it tends to get around 800-1000Mbps which is satisfactory enough. However, when the dust settles, the wireless speeds rest at around 300-600Mbps.
I've read that a lot of routers tend to cover around 20-30 devices, and considering we have about 45-55 on the network, I'm concerned that the hardware may not sufficiently handle the use-case.
Does anyone have any experience with this, able to confirm yay/nay to the suspicion, and/or any hardware suggestions that should easily handle 50 devices? Preferably not too outrageously expensive, if possible.
Thanks so much for any and all help with this!
