Post Body

Hi,

Over the last 3 years, I have sort-of Frankenstein-ed my network together. The other day I was going to setup a VLAN to move my IoT devices to, but as I began setting it up - I sort of sat back and thought about how I should probably slightly modify the current setup.

I put together a quick diagram of how my network is currently setup. You can see the diagram here.

My question to the sub is, how would you set up a network with what I have? Any advice, tips, changes I should make? Like I said, I stopped and thought about it which brought me here. I am not up to speed on all the latest and greatest so please excuse my ignorance for anything I may be unfamiliar with. On the flip side, I'm in the loop enough to know I am not here to shell out money for a dream machine pro :p.

  • No current VLAN

  • One subnet, basic 100-254 range for assignment. .10 through .99 are used for the pis and other network equipment.

  • Router has ipv6 assignment from ISP but I don't have it activated anywhere to be used.

Current network equipment as seen in diagram.

  • Ubiquti Edgerouter X

  • TP-Link T2600G 24 port PoE managed switch lvl3

  • 2 pi's running pihole and unbound

  • 1 pi running home assistant

  • 1 pi running piVPN

  • TP-Link OC200 Omada Cloud Controller

  • 3 TP-Link EAP225 APs - hardwired.

So yeah, and tips or thoughts on what changes I should make and how I should set things up -- I would appreciate it!
