I've got a few elm trees located in the front of my home (about 10-20ft away), about 200ft in height, the roots stretch all the way back to my backyard. My house is lifted with push piers all 360 degrees at the foundation perimeters, under the floors are adjustable steel piers. The home shifts / settles with different seasons (doors dont close and steel jack threads show movement). I am guessing the settlement is mostly from the Elm trees due to the height and there are about 3 of them. I've tried seeking advise from Engineers / Aborists / Tree Cutters, but they none have knowledge / advise on the specific combined configuration of my home setup (push piers, steel piers, 200ft elm trees, clay expansive soil), so arent able to confidently guarantee a solution. I'm thinking completely removing the trees, but the roots would leave a void. Does anyone have experience and recommendations?
