Hue Vs. Tradfri (2 Month review)
Post Body

So last summer I convinced my Dad to buy some Philips Hue bulbs, just as a little step into the future, then when he found out about tradfri, we bought some of them when they become HomeKit compatible, 2 months on there is lacer outstanding winner.

Hue.

First of all, Tradfi is cheap, at £7-£12 a bulb it's closer to the prices of normal bulbs, and apart form that that's really the only selling point of Tradfri, which soon becomes apparent of why they're so cheap, theres a clear schism of quality between Tradfri and Hue.

Both me and my dad are techy people, I myself am studying Computer Science and he has worked for companies such as Marconi and BT, so we know what were doing when it comes to technology.

Hue has an easy set up. Buy your bulbs, stick them in your lamps/ceiling fittings, open the app, add them, add to the Home app, off you go! We've had no problems aside from when someone anciently turns off a light switch (unavoidable but we're slowly remembering not to).

Whereas Tradfri, I find myself having to reset the gateway every other week, getting kicked out of it and having to add my phone back to it every other time I use the app, the setup is a hard task, balancing on a chair holding a remote to each bulb when setting up. The final straw was today, where the Tradfri gateway no longer can be added to Home, despite multiple resets, restarting ever other device, we've tried everything.

So for our 3 bedroomed, semi-detached in the South Yorkshire suburbs, we have opted to use Hue, for seamless and easy functionality.
