Just dipping my toes into automation, but for info I have two mini’s and have an Apple TV coming this week.
After reading all the messages on doorbells, I have decided to go with the Logitech but I have a quick question. Does it use your existing chime?
More info for those who want it:
I am connecting the doorbell to an old Nutone intercom system which I installed in our new home in 2007. There is a guy who has done videos of how to do this with a Nest Hello. He sells a small relay board which allows for the connection of the two devices. He has several really long videos on YouTube showing how he hooks up the relay board.
I called him to ask if he has done this with any other doorbells, but he said he has only tested it with the Nest Hello. However, he said it should work with any doorbell that will activate a mechanical chime. (What he actually said was “if the doorbell makes your chime go ding-dong, it will work.” He’s quite a character.)
He said he has sold thousands of them, so I am hopeful that this will work, and I think it will as long as the Logitech will make an existing mechanical chime go ding-dong.
