Door jamb (or casing?) pulling away from inside closet wall... How to fix?
Post Body

photos and video

Tenant wrecked my townhome. Door jamb (or is it "casing"?) is pulling away from inside of HVAC closet.

The left side is pulling away. Right side is still attached and door can swing open and closed.

What would be the best way to reattach the jamb? Can I simply pull it back toward the wall and drill through the molding to secure the jamb again? Or is that not the way to go?

UPDATE 1:

Now that I understand casing and jambs better, I have a question: am I wrong or does the jamb appear to have been attached directly to the casing? Is that the way this closet entry should have been constructed? Is that normal?
