Previous homeowners didn't caulk around the kitchen sink... Can this damage under the counter be fixed and how?
Post Body

So we moved into our new house almost 2 months ago and I just noticed last week that the kitchen sink had no caulk around the edge. Something I never thought to look for but once I noticed it I was a little perturbed. I am getting caulk to add the bead to prevent further water from getting there but some damage is already done.

Went underneath the sink to take a look and at the rear of the sink and the left side it's definitely taken on some water to have some damage. The right side is wet but not nearly as bad, and the front side is too skinny to have taken a picture and see anything but it's similar to the right in that it's wet but not too bad.

Can I fix this? And if so how would I go about doing so? I was thinking sand the face flush and maybe add a long wood support? Or should I just leave it be? We plan to upgrade these counters but that's probably 3-5 years away. I don't want mold going nuts or the sink to fall out before we do switch them out.
