Imgur link above. I am slowly finishing a portion of my basement and am currently starting to frame in the bathroom area. There is existing plumbing in this portion of the basement. An old, broken, single person shower stall was there when we moved in. Was not properly attached to the drain in the floor. I plan to try and use the existing drain to install a premade shower kit after framing the bathroom and subfloor placement. Still a lot of planning to do as well as leveling the floor where the shower will be.
Before I get to deep I wanted to see if it was possible to use the existing drain as is, or should I get a plumber to come out and break into the concrete to get better access to the drain. I'm trying to avoid leaks as the previous shower was unusable due to this. Any recommendations for this or working on the bathroom is very much appreciated.
A contractor a while back had recommended shark bite connectors for the water lines when it comes times to adjust these and rough in the plumbing for the shower. I've got minimal experience with plumbing as a whole.
