Question about new light fixtures and older wiring
Post Body

I have some new ceiling lights I want to put up in some bedrooms. However, before I put them up I was reading something online, and it warned not to use new light fixtures on wiring from pre-1985. I checked the box and sure enough it said something about needing wires rated for 90C.

My house was built in 1971, and the wiring looks to be a pretty thick gauge to me, but I don't really want to take any chances with something that could start a fire. Obviously the easiest solution would be to go get a different light, but I'm wondering if there's anything else I could do.

Also, if I use low-wattage LED bulbs, and the light is pulling significantly less power than its maximum, do I still need to worry about this?
