Are spring loaded tension curtain rods bad for painted walls?
Post Body

My situation: I need to hang curtain rods over a larger window. . I cannot drill holes in either the walls or wooden window frame. The span of the walls is 97"

Will spring loaded rods damage the paint or walls? Do I need a buffer such as white felt pad etc?
All rods I've looked at say for tile/marble/ hard surfaces etc. Nothing about painted walls.
recommendations/advice please
