Replacing Carpet Pad for a Warmer Basement Floor in MN- Need Advice!

Post Body

Hi everyone,

I'm considering replacing the pad under our newer carpet in our walkout basement to make the floor feel warmer, especially during the harsh Minnesota winters. Home is new build 2017 with poured doundation walls. The carpet and pad was installed about 4 years ago by a contractor when we were finishing the basement. Pad doesnt seem thick at all.

Has anyone here done something similar? How much of an impact did a better-quality pad/underlayment make in terms of warmth and comfort? Also, does anyone have a rough estimate of how much it might cost to have the new pad installed including labor?

Thanks in advance for your help
