Splice main water line as straightforward as it seems?
Post Body

Been fixing up some items around the outside now that the weather is getting nice. Remembered of course only once it got warm that all of the water that runs through my house goes through the water softener including the 1 outdoor spigot...

In order to be healthier for plants/my lawn I want to make the outdoor spigot be hard water once again. Figured my plan was to just splice into the PEX pipe leading from the ball valve to the softener and run the pipe over to the spigot. There's no reason that should cause any issue with the softener or anything else right? Or anything specific to note about running the PEX pipe?

Picture of the main water line to water softener and where I'd plan to take a T connector into it.
