Brief summary:
Whole house was renovated by the prior owners except the garage. The garage (attached to the house) was not rewired along with the rest of the house during the remodel. I want power in there so having an electrician come out at the end of this week to do so (plus some other work).
I’d like to install a garage door opener but had the thought today about how much space is necessary. Googling took me to different suggestions and numbers and left me a little confused.
I measured the header space from top of the garage door to ceiling as 10.5 inches. 8 3/4 in of side room on each side. It’s a 7ft tall door and measures at 8 feet wide. Garage is 20 feet deep. As you can see in the below photo, it has extension springs.

Before I waste my money putting in the electric for an opener, is this set up compatible with one? I would hire a pro for the install but figured I’d ask first before getting that far.
Thanks in advance, I’ve learned so much from this sub
