Preface: This thread is likely to contain links to major spoilers for Avengers: Endgame, Detective Pikachu, and currently unaired Game of Thrones episodes. It is also entirely possible there will be bad actors in the comments who will spoil people just to be edgy, and merely commenting here could even end up with you receiving spoilers in a DM from reddit edgelords. Proceed with caution.

Who:

Steven "Destiny" Bonnell II, a Twitch streamer known for playing a variety of games and being a liberal debater. He got famous several years ago for being a StarCraft II pro-player. Lately he mostly plays League of Legends, Minecraft, and various indie games, and occasionally does IRL content, and spends much of his time debating people and going on political shows and podcasts.

When:

The drama began on roughly Monday, April 29th, and is still ongoing.

What:

On April 29th, 3 days after Avengers: Endgame released and 1 day after the Battle of Winterfell in GoT, Destiny tweeted (SPOILER WARNING) a casual tweet that was meant to be a meme, but spoiled both the latest episode of GoT as well as the ending of Endgame. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

Destiny's fans began to give a lot of pushback in his community over it as can be seen in the tweet thread. Fans angrily took to his stream's chat (SPOILER WARNING) and demanded an apology. In the clip, a fan asked "Why did you spoil Endgame on twitter?" to which Destiny responded "It's Sunday night. If you haven't seen it at this point, and you're on the internet, I'm sorry but fuck you," and then went on to openly spoil the ending of the movie.

His subreddit erupted in the days following. A lot of posts (1) (2) (3) (4) (5) (6) (7) (8) (9) (10) (11) ( way too many others to list) were upvoted throughout his subreddit in protest. There are literally hundreds of other shitposts that were made that either weren't upvoted, or were removed by Destiny and his mod team. Without going into too much detail, his community argued that it isn't okay to post spoilers for something that has only just been released, without prefacing your content with something like [spoiler warning].

Destiny fought back on stream off and on for several days and basically argued that, if you don't want to be spoiled by something, you need to stay off of social media - and that it wasn't his responsibility to prevent people from being spoiled, nor will he change the way he uses social media to cater to people's sensibilities, and that, in his opinion, it's rude and inconsiderate of his fans to try and dictate how he uses his twitter account.

Things tapered off slightly for a few days - not dying completely, but the shitposts about spoilers started to lessen more and more. Then on Cinco de Mayo, Destiny posted a video to his YouTube titled "My fans are so mad..." that recapped a bit of what had happened. He stuck to his guns, and continued to do so on twitter, which led to a resurgence of shitposts on his subreddit. At one point, Destiny said on his show The DT Podcast that he would "never intentionally spoil someone just to be a dick or whatever" - which would come back to bite him later.

Last Wednesday, May 8th, the shitposting peaked when user cerealkillr made a meme called Destiny vs. Destiny where he used old clips of Destiny from years ago to create an argument between past and present Destiny regarding spoilers. Destiny was not happy with this and banned the user from his subreddit on stream. Even though people had been shitposting about this for weeks, it was here that Destiny started his downward spiral into madness over this battle.

Following cerealkillr's lead, shitposts about Destiny and spoiling things flooded both his subreddit and his twitter replies. On reddit, mods began mass deleting posts and banning users left and right. On twitter, Destiny started trolling fans harder by mocking them. Finally, Destiny went on his stream and decided it was time to lay down the law, which basically amounted to "Don't circlejerk for more than 2 weeks at a time." People rebelled of course, as they do, and continued to shitpost in the subreddit.

On Saturday, May 11th, things took a strange turn. Moderator 4THOT stepped in and announced that everyone who had been banned for shitposting was now unbanned, which seemed to go directly against the recent rules that Destiny had set in place. Subsequently, Destiny upped the ante himself and took the fight with his community to new heights by breaking down and actually DMing spoilers to random fans on his subreddit, live on stream. This completely changed everything. His entire subreddit immediately became an all-out war zone of fans revolting against the streamer.

At this point, Destiny figured he had nothing left to lose, stating on his stream that (paraphrasing) "if people are going to be pissed off at me, I may as well have some fun with it", and decided to take it up yet another notch, now deciding to publicly spoil people in reddit comments (MAJOR spoilers for unreleased GoT episodes). This latest development leaked over into /r/LivestreamFail as seen in these LSF threads. Someone even created a bot (spoilers) to automate DMing spoilers to people on behalf of Destiny.

The final and most recent breaking point was when Destiny began spoiling people on /r/LivestreamFail, as can be seen here. This was the final straw for the LSF mod team, who announced that Destiny and posts about him were now banned from the subreddit.

A month ago, streamer Antphrodite did a tarot card reading with Destiny that predicted 'something big' was going to happen that his community would run with and that Destiny would want to nip it in the bud. He's now claiming he predicted this drama, which Destiny is not happy about.
