My mental health is so much better when I can both get as active as I can manage and be out in nature, and now that I'm based in a more rural area, thereโs so many more opportunities!
But I have ME/CFS and fibro and both can't stand for more than 10 minutes or so at a time and also have to be slow with physical tasks in general/don't have much strength. Anything that's considered 'cardio' is a no go as well.
Basically, consider if your average 60-75 year old could do the activity, and if they can't, I can't either.
Things that I've either tried and can't keep up with or know I wouldn't be able to:
- can't keep up with kayaking strength-wise,
- but do love white water rafting over Category 3 with a guide, as I don't actually have to do much rowing with the guide/others and the strength of the rapids
- surfing is something I'd dream of doing but sadly know I won't have the strength for
- Ditto for stand-up paddleboarding
- Normal biking no,
- Electric probably though! I just haven't tried it
- Golfing is boring af (for me) and not the type of outdoorsy I'm hoping for
- Hunting isn't something I'd enjoy
Any tips or recommendations appreciated!
