Russia literally has a border war ongoing with foreign troops on both the land internationally recognised as Russian and on the Ukrainian land Russia unlawfully claims, including in its constitution; it also has territorial disputes short of active warfare with half a dozen countries. Betting it would last ten years in its current borders (… which are what exactly, anyway?) is very optimistic, never mind a thousand.
As for balkanisation, it is a colonial empire, and those don’t tend to last united forever…
