I listen to almost all of the chronological āHistory of Romeā type pods I can get my ears on. One that I donāt think thatās been done is a history of the world, not through the eyes and accomplishments of emperors or conquerors, but through the eyes of slaves throughout history.
Slaves have existed for as long as empire and continue in some form to this day. You could do it in chapter/series form: Series. 1 Being a Slave in Antiquity, with episodes on slavery in ancient Egypt, Greece, Persian empire, etc. Series 2 Rome, Series 3 Slavery in Middle Ages, with episodes on Arabian Slaves and the beginning of the African slave trade etc. Series 4: The Europeans Arrive in Africa, Series 5: Modern Day Slavery
I think it would be a really interesting concept that flips how we learn history on its head. Use primary sources, like Egyptian papyrus slave sale slips and things like that. Obviously, Rome would have a ton of sources, with its 3 huge slave revolts that all the elites were writing about. And it would be a unique way to thread a string through human history.
