President Washington has sent a letter to Commander Josiah Harmar at Fort Harmar, informing him that he has authorization to call upon the militia and professional soldiers he was ordered to use in his campaign against the Natives in the North West immediately. He is still to abide by his orders to embark on his expedition later in the year, but he is to spend at least two months drilling the men, to ensure they are properly disciplined. The President expects Harmar will gladly take this opportunity to drill his men, the Commander being a strict adherent to the Prussian Blue Book. Secretary of War Henry Knox however, being a strict opponent of any kind of standing army, is deeply displeased with this measure, but has nonetheless signed on, after convincing by both President Washington and Secretary Hamilton.
