Following the dramatic events of last September, King Carlos IV withdrew from the Court to La Granja (A royal castle in the town of San Ildefonso) to recover from what he called, "A grave tragedy of this House." During this period, His Majesty's First Secretary, Jose Monino, Conde de Floridalbanca, managed the government, maintaining the status quo until the King returned.

Now, three months later, Carlos has returned. The King, refreshed from his retreat, arrived in Madrid early in the morning of the 11th, riding in on his carriage accompanied by his second daughter Maria Amalia. Greeted by the First Secretary, the President of the Cortes Pedro Rodriguez, and Fernando, Prince of Asturias. The King quickly left from his carriage and entered into the Palacio Real de Madrid.

From there, His Majesty quickly assembled his Royal Council and announced that, after some time with himself to recover from his dramatic divorce, that he was prepared to return to his duties.

First on the order of business is the organization of an official response to the situation in France. Following several hours of intense discussion, His Majesty the King has decided to issue a call to all members of the House of Bourbon, as well the various cadet Houses, to assemble in Valencia to discuss the state of the French Throne and how to best create a united policy to respond to the slaughter of Louis XVI's direct line and establish a general agreement on who the current legitimate claimant to the throne is, and whether or not to support Charles Compte d'Artois. Furthermore, the King will be assembling the General Staff of Spain to outline a plan for possible intervention in France.

Furthermore, the King has decided to issue full support for First Secretary Monino's plan for strengthening the Crown's relationship with Her Colonies by calling the Council of the Indies and assembling the Viceroyalties of Spain to discuss a reformation of both the local and overall Imperial state apparatus to ensure long term prosperity and peace in the Empire.
